Procedures for the    disposal of waste

Staff may be required to deal with the disposal of bodily fluids. If this is the case the following precautions would be used:-

All staff dealing with the situation would wear disposable gloves.

The child concerned would be removed from the main hall.

The contaminated area would be immediately cleaned and disinfected by another member of staff using disposable cloths and appropriate cleaner. Cloths would be placed in a sealed disposable bag.

The child’s soiled clothes would be placed in a sealed bag.

The child would be cleaned with paper to be flushed or wipes to be placed in sealed bag – along with used gloves.

Adult and child’s hands would be washed in warm soapy water.

All disposable bags would be placed in the wheelie bin.
